TMZ has now reported that Simpsonโs ashes have been distributed among the athleteโsย adult children. To be more specific, his kidsโArnelle, Sydney, Jason and Justinโagreed to have his ashes turned into various pieces of jewelry.
As Simpsonโs attorney, LaVergne had to consent to the process in order for it to happen. LaVergne told the outlet that he did not receive any of the jewelry because he didnโt want any. He also stated that the cost of the process was $4,243.06 and it includes the price of the jewelry, cremation and death certificates.
As executor of Simpsonโs estate, the lawyer is currently preoccupied with the process of settling his late clientโs debt of almost $270,000. Per Yahoo Finance, LaVergne is attempting to liquidate some of Simpsonโs assets which includes his home in Las Vegas to satisfy his creditors.
He is also working to stop the family of Ron Goldman from receiving payment on a $30 million wrongful death lawsuit. The suit was a result of Simpsonโs 1994 murder trial, in which he was accused of killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson as well as Goldman.
He was ultimately acquitted. However, Goldmanโs family won a civil wrongful death lawsuit against Simpson in 1997. They never received any money due to a Florida law that protected Simpsonโs NFL pension.
However, Goldmanโs father Fred, has not given up on the claim. Now, he is attempting to collect the money in the state of Nevada. Fred requested that his claim become โdomesticated in Nevada to become a valid creditor claim against a Nevada estate.โ
LaVergne told The Las Vegas Review-Journal that he will deal with the request โin accordance with Nevada law.โ
