With the niceties out of the way, letโ€™s be clear: President Obama has never said he was โ€œabsolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying womenโ€ deserve the same rights and liberties as heterosexual couples.

What the President has said is that he opposes several anti-gay marriage legislation but is personallyย  โ€œevolvingโ€ on gay marriage itself. Those comments are not equal to Bidenโ€™s words. Spins be damned.

The issue with Obamaโ€™s โ€œevolutionโ€ is that no one really believes heโ€™s evolving so much as posturing for political reasons. He wasnโ€™t straddling the lines in 1996 when he declared, โ€œI favor legalizing same-sex marriages and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages.โ€ It was only years later that a White House official stated, "If you actually go back and look, that questionnaire was actually filled out by someone else, not the President.โ€
