Jamyla Bolden was in bed Tuesday at 9:30 p.m., doing her homework, when bullets pierced her Ferguson, Mo., home. Her mother was shot in the leg during the shooting and has since been released from the hospital; 9-year-old Jamyla didn't make it.

On Wednesday, Ferguson police announced that they had no suspects and urged anyone with information to come forward. On Thursday, Ira DeWitt, wife of the president of the St. Louis Cardinals, Bill DeWitt III, announced that she would pay for Jamyla's funeral expenses, KMOV reports.
The news station was at Jamyla's father's home when he got the news of Ira Dewitt's generosity. Bolden told KMOV that he is grateful for the financial and emotional support he has received from the community.
Bolden wants anyone with information to come forward: "Do it for a 9-year-old child that didn't even get to see the rest of the world," he told the news station.
