In news that can only be described as “I know you lying,” Jonathan Majors was dealt yet another win...but this one just might surprise you.

We already told you how he shocked the internet earlier this week when it was revealed that he and girlfriend Meagan Good were engaged after over a year of dating. The news that the two were romantically linked came amid the “Creed III” actor’s infamous domestic dispute trial involving his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in which he was later convicted of third degree reckless assault and harassment back in Dec. 2023.
Three months later, Jabbari filed a civil suit against the actor over allegations of malicious prosecution, defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, assault and battery. She was seeking compensatory damages and punitive damages.
Now, in a interesting turn of events announced on Thursday (Nov. 21), Jabbari and Majors have settled the aforementioned suit against Majors, as evidenced in new court documents obtained by PEOPLE. While a specific reason wasn’t given for this decision, what we do know is that Jabbari filed a stipulation of dismissal with prejudice, meaning she can’t sue the Marvel star again on this matter.
“All claims against Defendant in the above-captioned action are hereby dismissed with prejudice,” the documents read in part.
In a statement from Jabbari’s lawyers sent to The Root on Friday, they said:
“This case, like most, ended in a settlement. We are happy to announce that the lawsuit Grace filed was successfully settled. It took tremendous courage for Grace to pursue this case. We are happy to have helped her close this chapter favorably so that she can move forward and begin to finally heal.”
While the stipulation of dismissal doesn’t take away from the actors reckless assault conviction, it does mark an end to an otherwise tumultuous year for Majors who’s seen a sharp decline in his previously rising career in Hollywood. Will this mean he’ll be welcomed back in the industry and in the public’s good graces swiftly and with open arms? Only time will tell.
Once the news of the suit’s dismissal hit the internet, many expressed joy and frustration:
“I need the Jonathan Majors apologies as loud as the disrespect was!!!” wrote on user on X/Twitter.
“We need Grace Jabbari to apologize to Jonathan Majors.....publicly,” said another.
“Please remember that Jonathan Majors has a rep going back to Yale Drama, regardless of recent news. This wasn’t an isolated incident, even if it was complicated to prove in court. He’s not ‘off’ any hook,” another wrote.
“Dropping a defamation lawsuit and BEING CONVICTED OF 3RD DEGREE ASSAULT are two very very different things. yet men and pick-mes are running with the lies that we ‘need to apologize’ to jonathan majors. he tanked his own career by having a history of being violent,” said another user.
