Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) unleashed on the Tea Party, saying that its members could "go straight to hell," while addressing the unemployed at a forum in Inglewood, Calif., according to the Los Angeles Times.
She made the pronouncement a day after the release of statistics showing that California's jobless rate rose to 12 percent from 11.8 percent, making it the state with the second-highest unemployment rate. Nevada ranks first with a rate of 12.9 percent, which is well above the national average of 9.1 percent, according to the Times.
Waters vowed to push Congress to focus on creating more jobs. "I'm not afraid of anybody," said Waters. "This is a tough game. You can't be intimidated. You can't be frightened. And as far as I'm concerned, the 'tea party' can go straight to hell."
More than 1,000 people attended "Kitchen Table Summit," which was designed to give the jobless an opportunity to vent to elected officials and share their struggles about finding a job.

It's about time someone turned outrage into action. But why did the economy have to reach a crisis point before some congressional leaders decided to deal with it? It's not as if the economy flew off the tracks, say, yesterday. No, this has been a slow train coming for years. The horn was blowing, too.
