Just weeks after becoming the first Black coach in women’s or men’s college basketball history to complete an undefeated season, the University of South Carolina Gamecocks coach watched the best player on her team, Kamilla Cardoso, be drafted third overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Now, Staley is receiving flowers from one of the most beloved, influential, and famous people in the world: Beyoncé.

On Wednesday, Queen Bey took time out of her busy life to recognize Staley and let us know that she’s been watching her team closely over the last year.

In a letter Staley read on X, Beyoncé said, “To Coach Staley and the entire South Carolina Gamecocks, me and my family watched your games and cheered you on through the entire season. I am so proud of you, all of my love.”

Staley then shouted, “That’s Bey! Bey and her family! Yes, Mr. Carter! Yes, Blue! You did your thing Blu!”

While some may be shocked, nobody should be surprised that Beyoncé is recognizing Staley. Queen Bey is always one to recognize Black women exuding their excellence in any and all fields, including music, dance, or sports.

And Staley has made it well known that how much she admires Bey. In fact, she recently shared a picture of herself sporting some of the gear Beyoncé gifted her.

I’m sure Bey’s recognition of Staley also had to do with how she carried herself after their exciting national championship win against Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Even though she had every right to brag, Staley acted as if she had never won anything in her life and was grateful to have such great people around her.
