My how the tables have turned. Snoop Dogg was once one of the men criticizing anyone who would perform for Trump during his first inauguration. Now, heโs become the thing he once hated.

In a 2017 clip that has resurfaced online, Dogg is seen issuing a warning to artists who accepted an invitation to perform at Trumpโs 2017 inauguration, which was scheduled to take place just a week later.
In the video, Snoop says, โSo ainโt no one gonna perform for Donald Trump huh? Which one of you jigaboo a** niggas gone be the first one to do it. Iโm waitingโฆ Iโm gonna roast the fuck out of one of you uncle tom a** niggas for doing it.โ
He then jokingly started to speak like how a stereotypical enslaved African would. Watch below:
Years later, Snoopโs feelings have changed. In a January 2024 interview with The Sunday Times, he shared, โDonald Trump? He ainโt done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris. So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.โ
Harris is the co-founder of Death Row Records, the first label the โGin and Juiceโ rapper signed to in the mid-1990s. He was in federal prison for more than 30 years after he was convicted of attempted murder and drug trafficking in 1988.
Since then, Snoop has only said positive things about Trump and is now accepting checks from him.
Snoop isnโt the only rapper who doesnโt mind standing beside Trump and performing for him. Nelly, Soulja Boy, and Rick Ross are also notable rappers who accepted invitations to perform at his inauguration on Monday.
While Snoop hasnโt attempted to defend his decision even amid the criticism from his fans, Nelly is fighting back.
During an interview last week, the โCountry Grammarโ rapper stated, โIโm not doing this for money, Iโm doing this because itโs an honor. I respect the office. It donโt matter who is in office. The same way our brothers and sisters go to war to put their life on the line for whoever is in office. So, if they can put their life on the line for whoever is in office, I can damn sure perform for whoever is in office.โ
Weโll see if he or any others regret their decision in the years to come.
