The deal comes on the heels of the 2010 season for which he won Comeback Player of the Year. He needed a win. He had recently spent 19 months behind bars for a dogfighting conviction. The conviction knocked him out of the NFL, where he was a star player for the Atlanta Falcons. But he worked hard to redeem himself in the ensuing years.ย 

Some have said Vick had to overpay his debt to society. In an article for ESPN the Magazine, Tourรฉ flat out asks if a white player would have gotten nearly two years for the crime Vick committed. That remains an open question, but what is clear is that Vick is getting another chance. What he does with it is up to him.
