On Thursday, it was revealed that the โLike a Bossโ star pleaded no contest to reckless driving and took a plea deal which resulted in her getting the two misdemeanor charges dropped altogether. According to People, her charges were reduced down to โwet reckless,โ which means Haddishโs license wonโt be suspended like it would have been had she actually been charged with a DUI.
However, she was handed down a โWatson admonitionโ which is a formal statement that must be signed after being convicted of DUI that shows you acknowledge the harm in driving under the influence and can be used against you if you ever cause a DUI accident in the future.
Additional consequences for the โGirls Tripโ star included: 40 hours of community service, summary probation for a year, mandatory enrollment in a Mothers Against Drunk Drivingโs (MADD) Victim Impact Program, mandated attendance to a Hospital and Morgue (HAM) Program (a.k.a. a driverโs education program), and a fine.
In a statement to People, Haddishโs attorney said: โMs. Haddish has agreed to a simple vehicle code violation (not driving under the influence, which has been dismissed) and looks forward to this being behind her.โ
As previously reported by The Root, the โNight Schoolโ star was arrested in the wee hours on Black Friday morning in Nov. 2023, in Los Angeles after having previously performed at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood earlier that evening for the clubโs 43rd annual free community Thanksgiving feast.
At around 5:45 a.m. PT, someone alerted Beverly Hills Police Department that there was a person stopped in the middle of Beverly Drive, with the driver reportedly โslumped over the wheelโ while the car was still running. When police showed up, they found Haddish and she was subsequently taken to jail without incident for suspicion of driving under the influence. No one was injured in the incident.
