Beloved R&B singer Usher is one of the latest celebs getting wrapped up in the online discourse following Diddyโs demise โ but thereโs more to it than meets the eye. Iโll explain.

Though there are multiple stories from both Usherโs own mouth and others about his time spent with the Bad Boy mogul as a teen, the latest talk seems to be spawned by a mountain of recently deleted tweets from the singerโs official X/Twitter account. Usher says that he was simply hacked, and that people are overreacting.
โAccount got hacked and damn yโall ran with it!โ the โClimaxโ singer wrote on Sunday night, ahead of his second performance in Los Angeles as a part of his โPast, Present and Future Tour.โ โ See you tonight at Intuit Dome.โ
Hacked or not, folks online werenโt buying it at all. And why is that, you may ask? In addition to those deleted tweets coming amid Diddyโs federal indictment, they also come as Usher was named in the latest lawsuit filed against the power producer by former Diddy Dirty Money and Danity Kane member Dawn Richard. To be clear, Usher wasnโt accused of any wrongdoing in the suit, but Richard alleged that he was a witness to seeing Diddy physically assault ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
Those aforementioned coincidences were ammo for folks to speculate that Usherโs deleted tweets were somehow connected to Diddyโs impending downfall. People assumed that it was the โU Got It Badโ singerโs attempt at trying to clean house.
โNobodyโs buying that dude. You better find yourself a nice non-extradition island to go to and stay there for a while,โ wrote one user on X/Twitter in response to Usherโs tweet.
Added another in the replies, โWow. Ok bro. Thats some IMPECCABLE timing after your handler, erm I mean โfriendโ Diddy is now going down for crimes against children. You are a terrible liar. You can try to runโฆbut you cannot HIDE. It will ALL come out.โ
Said one other user, referencing just one of the shocking revelations from Diddyโs federal indictment: โJust answer this question: How much baby oil do you have stocked in your basement?โ
But while trying to be an internet sleuth may seem fun for a while, Usherโs account actually was hacked nearly two weeks ago, as evidenced by screenshots posted by other users on X/Twitter.
In it, you can see the โYou Make Me Wannaโ singerโs account firing off countless tweets around Sep. 12, pushing a meme coin scam and encouraging followers to give money to some shady cryptocurrency investment. [Authorโs note: I also saw these tweets happening in real time and knew something was up.]
So while folks may think this all had something to do with or was connected somehow to Diddy โ it appears that it didnโt. Not everything is a conspiracy, folks. Letโs do better next time.
