Two men allowed to board a United Airlines flight last night at Chicago's O'Hare airport were taken off a Chicago-to-Amsterdam flight in the Netherlands and charged with "preparation of a terrorist attack," according to U.S. law enforcement officials. Ahmed Mohamed Nassar al Soofi of Detroit and Hezem al Muisi were travelling with what appeared to be "mock bombs," or cell phones and other devices taped to containers meant to hold liquids. The men also had a box cutter, three large knives and watches that were taped together. The men boarded the flight to Amsterdam after being checked twice by security while sending their luggage to an airport in Dulles. Security figured out what was going on, removed the two men from the airplane and arrested them. A good catch, indeed. Shaking our heads over here at The Root.
