Toronto Restaurant Gets Big Boost After Kendrick Lamar Mention In ‘euphoria’

The Drake diss has allowed the Chinese restaurant to garner prominent visibility.

The fallout from Kendrick Lamarโ€™s epic Drake diss โ€œeuphoriaโ€ continues. In addition to setting the internet ablaze with its scathing bars, he also has given a big boost to a Canadian restaurant he name-dropped.

On the song, Kendrick raps: โ€œI be at New Ho King eatinโ€™ fried rice with a dip sauce and a blammy, crodie.โ€ The Chinese restaurant was founded in 1975 and is a place the Compton native seemingly likes to frequent.

The Toronto network, CityNews, interviewed New Ho King owner Johnny Lu, who said that thereโ€™s been a significant uptick in patrons after Kendrickโ€™s shoutout.

โ€œThis morning a lot of people texted me saying โ€˜oh, look at that thatโ€™s your restaurant?โ€™ I say, โ€˜Yes.โ€™ They say, โ€˜Look at the song,โ€™โ€ Lu said. โ€œHe said good food and rice get more and more rice, the chefโ€™s gonna be busy!โ€

โ€œI see, Kendrickโ€™s a good guy. Oh my God!โ€ Lu continued. CityNews also interviewed a patron who said that he decided to visit New Ho King because Kendrick showed it love.

โ€œI came all the way from Markham just to see this fried rice,โ€ one fan said. โ€œKendrick Lamar, man. You gotta pay respect to K. Dot, man. Ever since he dropped the diss track I was like, โ€˜I gotta visit this place.โ€™โ€

Kendrick released the song on Tuesday morning and the memes, lyrical breakdown and speculation about the decade-long feud have been nonstop. The Pultizer Prize-winning emcee has had enough of Drakeโ€™s antics of commodifying Blackness whenever it fits his needs.

The world is eagerly awaiting for Drizzy to respond. The smart thing here is for the โ€œFor All The Dogsโ€ artist to say nothing. If he does release another diss record, we are pretty confident it will be unbelievably corny as hell.
