The results are in, and it seems like former President Donald Trump isn’t too happy with most polls and analysts naming Vice President Kamala Harris as the very clear winner after their first presidential debate. Fresh off a crucial victory, the Harris campaign has already called for another matchup, but Trump says he’s not having it.

On his favorite platform, Truth Social, the former president wrote “THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!” to conclude his lengthy rant falsely claiming he was the real victor of the Sept. 10 showdown. According to Trump, “When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, ‘I WANT A REMATCH.’” And to his critique, “she [Harris] immediately called for a Second Debate.”
During his recent rally in Arizona, the GOP nominee went on to claim the ABC debate was rigged against him and Harris and that “Crooked Joe have destroyed our Country.” Trump referenced his first debate against President Joe Biden in June: “because we’ve done two debates and because they were so successful, there will be no third debate.”
On the other hand, Harris told her rally attendees in Charlotte, N.C. “we owe it to the voters to have another debate.” The Harris campaign isn’t wavering in their plans for a rematch between the two candidates, and they said they’re not taking Trump’s announcement too seriously.
As a matter of fact, a senior Harris campaign advisor said “He [Trump] changes his position every day” before predicting there will be another debate before November. There were previous talks of having a total of three Harris-Trump debates leading up to Nov. 5. Both candidates could only agree on the Sept. 10 debate on ABC.
We’ll just have to see if Trump sings a different tune about a rematch before it’s time for voters to line up at the polls. Both candidates’ vice presidential picks, Ill. Sen. JD Vance and Minn. Gov. Tim Walz, are set to face each other in their own vice presidential debate on Oct. 1.
