Allow me, a Beyoncé and Jay-Z expert, to break down the goddamn saga that was Bey and Jay’s On the Run II Tour announcement: At the beginning of this month, whoever runs Queen B’s Ticketmaster and Facebook pages made a “mistake” (that’s music industry for “caused purposeful chaos”) when a Philadelphia concert date for a previously unannounced joint tour appeared on both sites. It was quickly deleted.

Two days later, Billboard spoke to two anonymous sources who verified that the show was real—as was the oft-rumored On the Run II Tour—but Bey and Jay probably couldn’t announce it in full until after Coachella. (Beyoncé is 2018’s Saturday-night headliner at the annual Indio, Calif., festival.) Less than a week later, music’s royal family changed their tune and revealed that the tour was going to happen—Coachella be damned. They announced a bunch of dates stateside and across the pond (no word on Asia or Australia; sorry if you live there).
