On Monday (May 6), 50 Cent โ whose real name is Curtis Jackson โ filed a defamation suit against his ex-girlfriend Daphne Joy. The couple share an 11-year-old son, Sire.ย
The lawsuit, filed in Texas, states that Joy โ whose real name is Daphne Narvaez โ made โfalse accusationsโ causing the โIn Da Clubโ artist to be subjected to โextensive public ridicule, hatred and contempt.โ He added that her social media post was a โpurposeful attemptโ to ruin his reputation.
In a statement, Jacksonโs attorney Reena Jain of Blank Rome explained that โdespite being given ample opportunity to retract a false and malicious retaliatory accusation, Narvaez has shamefully chosen to interfere with her 11-year-old sonโs relationship with his loving father by falsely calling him a โrapist.โโ
The court documents also say Narvaez โretaliatedโ against Jacksonโs custody filing by posting several โdefamatory statementsโ to Instagram which โfalsely and publicly accuse Jackson of rape and physical abuse during their prior relationship, in a purposeful attempt toโฆdestroy his personal and business reputation.โ
Her claims also allegedly harmed โJacksonโs commercial and business interests, negatively affect his custody case, and prevent him from seeing his minor son.โ Jackson has called Narvaez claims downright false. The filing also reveals that Jackson and his legal team apparently gave Narvaez โmultiple opportunitiesโ to either fix or remove her statements.
When she refused, Jackson was forced to take action in order to โvindicate his rights and protect his reputation.โ In March, Rodney โLil Rodโ Jones filed a lawsuit against Sean โDiddyโ Combs and accused Narvaez of being a sex worker for Combs. Narvaez publicly denied Jonesโ allegations, and Jackson mocked Jonesโ claims, causing Narvaez to respond with allegations of her own.
Jackson is seeking more than $1 million in monetary damages.
