One of the many civil cases against Sean “Diddy” Combs has somehow turned into a war between co-defendant Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and attorney Tony Buzbee, the lawyer representing the woman who claims Combs and Carter raped her while she was 13 years old in 2000.

Carter and Buzbee have been going back and forth online and in the courts since the rapper’s name was included in the civil suit, and the lawyer just revealed shocking information that’s forcing all eyes back on the Hip-Hop mogul.
Buzbee filed a lawsuit against Roc Nation claiming Hov’s attorneys allegedly offered a former client money in exchange for turning on Buzbee, according to TMZ, which obtained the filing. TMZ said that one of Buzbee’s former clients, a man named Gerardo Garcia, said two “investigators” allegedly showed up at his home hoping to get some information for a lawsuit against Buzbee that could “get [Garcia] a lot of money.”
Garcia alleges the investigators falsely identified themselves as workers for the State of Texas and even “flashed fake badges,” according to Business Insider. Buzbee took to Instagram on Dec. 10 to post a screenshot from a video he said Garcia took of these “investigators” during the home visit.
In the Instagram caption, Buzbee wrote “These investigators aren’t very smart. What they didn’t anticipate was one of the clients decided to record the conversation.” The lawyer continued calling the incident “shocking and illegal.”
But why is Buzbee so sure these investigators are with Roc Nation? Well, apparently, in the video, one of the men is allegedly captured saying he works for an attorney named Marcy Croft, who is a known Roc Nation affiliate. Buzbee also claims Croft works with Alex Spiro, Hov’s longtime attorney, according to TMZ.
Now, Buzzbee, on behalf of Garcia, is suing Roc Nation, Quinn Emanuel, Marcy Croft, and one of the investigators for undisclosed “damages.” The lawsuit comes on the grounds of “barratry,” as known as encouraging someone to sue for personal gain, saying Roc Nation has a “long history of the type of abusive and egregious conduct.”
In response to the lawsuit, a spokesperson for Roc Nation called everything a joke, according to TMZ. “Tony Buzbee’s baloney lawsuit against ROCNATION is nothing but another sham. It’s a pathetic attempt to distract and deflect attention. This sideshow won’t change the ultimate outcome and true justice will be served soon,” the spokesperson said.
Roc Nation is clearly not going down without a fight. And most recently on Wednesday (Dec. 18), Jay-Z filed a motion to “speedily extract” his name from the Jane Doe lawsuit completely, according to AP News. His lawyers cited a recent TV interview where the accuser acknowledged inconsistencies in her story.
Buzbee told AP News in response, “They continue to file meritless motions that are contrary to the rules and which have absolutely no merit.”
