According to the New York Times, Sammy Sosa tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug in the 2003 season while with the Chicago Cubs. Sixth on the all-time home run list, he has been the subject of suspicion for years, particularly with regard to his relationship with disgraced trainer Angel Presinal. Presinal, who also trained Alex Rodriguez and Juan Gonzalez, has been banned from major league parks and clubhouses for his training methods which allegedly include use of PEDs.

Sosa's agent had no comment on the matter, though these comments from 2005 before the House Government Reform committee may be the most damaging:

"To be clear, I have never taken illegal performance-enhancing drugs. I have never injected myself or had anyone inject me with anything. I have not broken the laws of the United States or the laws of the Dominican Republic. I have been tested as recently as 2004, and I am clean."
