Williams had not lost a match since August, one of only four defeats in 2013, and entered the fourth round with 25 straight wins, the AP reports. It was her 70th match at Australia's Melbourne Park, a record, and she'd already set the mark for most match wins ever at the Australian Open with her third-round victory, the report says.

Ivanovic had not won a set in her four previous matches against Williams, who was the favorite to win a sixth Australian Open crown for her 18th Grand Slam title.

Williams said after the game,ย "I don't want to blame anything. I feel like Ana deserves all the credit," Williams added, the AP says. "She played unbelievable today โ€ฆ went for her shots. It's not like I gave her the match."

Ivanovic said it was difficult playing a great champion, but she did her best.

"It's not easy playing such a champion โ€ฆ but she is also just a human," Ivanovic said, according to the AP. "I just went out there swinging."
