Scarface Opens Up About The Frightening Situation That Almost Killed Him This Summer

The Houston MC just went through open-heart surgery with "one of the most sought-after surgeons in the world."

Too many beloved hip-hop artists have died in the past few years, so itโ€™s refreshing to see that the legend Scarface survived what couldโ€™ve been a fatal situation.

Scarface โ€” real name Brad Jordan โ€” shared on Tuesday that, over the summer, he was checked into a hospital after suffering an aortic aneurysm, which are bulges that occur in the aorta and can be fatal.

In a post on Instagram, which featured a photo with his surgeon, Dr. Andrea Quarti, the Geto Boys MC wrote, โ€œThis is the man, one of the most sought after surgeons in the world, when I was told, โ€˜this Dr. is hard to getโ€™ heโ€™s one of the best if not THE BEST. When I woke up to have a scheduled aortic aneurysm and leaky valve repaired something crazy happened, when he got me cut open, my aneurysm had torn the entire circumference of my aorta ( certain death ).โ€

โ€œBut nope, no surprise to him, I woke 24hrs+ later and I asked him, why me doc, out of all the people you couldโ€™ve worked on? He looked up to the heavens and he did this [finger pointing up emoji] wow, and again I say Iโ€™m gratefulโ€ฆ.,โ€ he added.

In another post shared on Monday, Face wrote, โ€œ6wks ago I underwent open heart surgery, to be upright and smiling today shows you that God aint nothing to play withโ€ฆ and again I say, Iโ€™m grateful, it couldโ€™ve went either way, yet Iโ€™m still aliveโ€ฆโ€

This isnโ€™t Scarfaceโ€™s only recent health scare: Heย received a kidney transplant from his son, Christopher Jordan, in 2021 following a COVID-19-triggered organ failure.ย

Although itโ€™s been nearly a decade since the Houston MC released a studio album, heโ€™s continued to stay active, hopping on features every few years. His NPR Tiny Desk Concert released last December to much acclaim.
