"If I could rewind time, I would go back and heavily monitor his use of social media, YouTube and the Internet," Davorius' mother,ย Latrice Hurst, said in a statement released through her pastor, WYFF 4 reports. "I would just say, 'I donโ€™t believe young people should be on social media, and it should be limited to adults, or, at the very least, with extreme adult supervisionโ€”where the parents can see everything that takes place on the sitesโ€”should be a requirement.'"

According to the news station, Davorius died after playing a game in which kids choke themselves until they pass out.

Hurst said that her son was not depressed but was "a prankster and loved to play tricks."

"This tragic loss of my son has opened up dialogue between students and teachers, students praying and our community coming together, understanding the only healing is through a relationship with Jesus Christ," Hurstย said.

The coroner's office and police are investigating Davorius' death, WYFF 4 reports.
