Vincent Gray has officially won the D.C. mayoral Democratic primary. An excerpt of his victory speech is below:

"Thank you, District of Columbia!ย Tonight, the people of the District sent a message loud and clear that they want to bring character, integrity and leadership back to the mayor's office, and that it's time we come together as 'One City'! A short while ago I received a call from Mayor Fenty. I congratulated him for running a hard and spirited campaign, and he was gracious in offering his support moving forward. Despite our differences, I know that Adrian Fenty shares our commitment to this city. Please join me in applauding and thanking him for his record of service to the people of the District of Columbia." Read the entire victory speech at The Washington Post.

It's likely that Vincent Gray will be the next mayor of Washington, D.C. He appears to have won the Democratic primary against the current mayor, Adrian Fenty, according to multiple news reports. With no Republican running inย November's general election, the outcome of that election is all but certain. Gray has already declared victory in the primary. However, as of 1:18 a.m. on Wednesday, Fenty had refused to concede, reported The Washington Post. Check back for updates.
