Plot: The antagonist is Ill Will Jackson, who is fucking up the whole atmosphere, so our stacked protagonist, Megan Thee Stallion, has to corral her group of perfect afro-rockin’ hotties to take him down.
The video clearly pays homage to the Pam Grier-era of blaxploitation films from the 1970s and I am entirely here for it. Megan over here looking like Stallion Brown, ‘specially equipped with bars so hot, you’ll certainly get a Fever.
Let me reiterate that—not only is she showing off her glorious body, but her glorious bars, too; which, as any female rapper in the game knows, have to come twice as hard. Sure, the result is sweet, but the double standard is wack.
“And then being a girl too—they criticize you harder than they criticize men,” Megan told the Fader in a recent cover story. “If I was out there making little noises like [Lil] Uzi [Vert] and [Playboi] Carti be making, they would not rock with that. And not saying that they don’t be going hard, because we definitely finna turn up to both of them, but if it was a chick, like—no.”
She’s talking cash shit at her newfound and buzzy success, yet will not hesitate to let you know she’s still Megan. Don’t get it twisted. If that ain’t “realer,” I don’t know what is.
It looks like we may have a whole franchise on our hands as the video ends with a cliffhanger, “To be continued ...” Um, sign me up for the Hot Girl Cinematic Universe (HGCU).
