Quincy Brown wrote an open letter to his father singer/songwriter/radio personality Al B. Sure thatโs getting a lot of traction on the internet. You might recall back in the day, I noted that on Brownโs episode of MTVโs โSweet 16,โ he was claiming mogul Sean โPuffyโ Combs as his father. Now heโs airing out his biological dad even more.ย They evidently got on well at one time, but have fallen out, I guess. I have to give it to Al B. Sure for being the bigger man, because this is a case where there are at least two sides to the story.

Children never really know what goes on between their parents and how that can affect their relationship. From the curb, Kim Porter looks like a gold-digger: a former Jheri Curl model who liked to hunt big game, and in the late 80sโ, only Michael Jackson was bigger than Al. B. Sure. I imagine when the paparazzi went home and Al. Bโs checks became not-so-sure, it became a point of contention and it wouldnโt surprise me to find out that Porter alienated her son from his father. When a mother decides to alienate a child from their father, itโs a wrap. Fathers are helpless against that kind of influence.ย I donโt know what the child support situation is, but I know that Al B. Sure is not stuntin' like he used to, and, as in the case of Sean Levert, mothers arenโt trying to hear that. They want the same money they were getting when the star they bedded was flush โ otherwise, what was the point, right? And if you donโt have the money to pay support, you donโt have the money to go to court and try to fix this kind of problem either.ย I donโt know whoโs at fault here, but itโs a sticky wicket, to be sure. Too complicated to airing out on the internet.
So now, Brown wants to claim Puffy as his Dad, and what kid wouldnโt, right? Shit, Puffy could adopt me if heโd buy me a Range Rover for my birthday. The problem is you have to wonder whatโs going on behind the scenes here, if Porter alienated Al B. Sure and Puffy is complicit in that, buying Quincyโs affection. Thatโs not cool. Nevermind the fact that Brown is claiming someone who doesnโt love his mother enough to marry her and puts his moms on blast, laying up with other random women indiscriminately, catching strays here and ther. You couldnโt play my moms like that and get any respect.
I hope, if nothing else, Brownโs open letter opens a dialog with his father โhis biological father.
