President Obama will sign an executive order that will raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour for some federal contract workers, USA Today reports.

While it is expected that Tuesday's State of the Union speech from the president will emphasize his desire to work with Congress on legislation to increase the federal minimum wage for all workers from its current $7.25 to $10.10, the executive action makes it clear that Obama is not afraid to use his presidential authority.
The president is also expected in his speech to call on Congress to pass a major immigration bill and to outline his domestic and foreign policy agendas for the year ahead, including a variety of executive orders, USA Today reports.
Obama's minimum wage order is expected to include federally contracted janitors and construction workers as well as workers in military bases who wash dishes, serve food and are currently making less than $10.10 per hour.
Obama delivers his annual State of the Union speech Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST.
