CBS New York reports that Raleigh and Tunicia Hall were married on June 28. On July 30 Tunicia suffered a brain hemorrhage that erased her short-term memory.

“She didn’t know what year she was in. After two days, I said, ‘I gotta do something here,’” Raleigh said.

To help his wife regain her memory, Raleigh placed pictures of their wedding all over her room at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y. Slowly but surely, Tunicia started to regain her memory.

Doctors have credited Raleigh’s efforts with aiding his wife’s recovery. “It’s not just medical science that’s bringing patients back. Patients’ families are so important and key in terms of neurological recovery,” said Dr. Richard Temes, the neurocritical-care director at the hospital.
