Luis Machado, the New York City police lieutenant involved in the forceful arrest of a Brooklyn postal worker delivering mail, has been stripped of his gun and badge, the New York Post reports.

According to the Post, Machado, who has been placed on modified duty, was overseeing the arrest of letter carrier Glen Grays on March 17. The arrest, which was caught on video, happened after officers driving in an unmarked car nearly hit Grays' postal truck. When Grays yelled at the officers for driving recklessly, they backed up and demanded to see Grays' identification.
Grays and the officers exchanged words until the postal worker was arrested and issued a disorderly conduct summons.
On Tuesday, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton told reporters that he had "strong concerns" about the performance of the officers and the lieutenant involved.
Lieutenants Benevolent Association President Louis Turco told the Post that it plans to "vigorously" defend Machado, an 11-year cop who served as a Marine in Iraq before joining the NYPD.
