Lots of little girls love playing in their mom’s makeup. But it’s totally different when your mom is Kim Kardashian, the makeup is from her brand new SKKN BY KIM collection, and you’re playing in front of 18 million followers on TikTok.

That’s exactly what North West, Kim’s oldest daughter with ex Kanye West, did this week. The ten-year-old social media star just released a review of her mom’s new collection in a January 27 TikTok video Kim captioned, “What my daughter does on my phone ha ha ha ha ha ha.”
In the video, North is rocking a black t-shirt and a pink satin bonnet while giving an “honest” review of the products from SKKN BY KIM’s first makeup collection. Inspired by Kim’s signature smoky eye and nude lip, the collection features soft matte lipsticks, lip liners, and an eyeshadow palette in a range of neutral shades.
“They’re really neutral. I like it, like, to go out. Like, dinner. This is classic Kim,” North says in the high-speed video which is even more ridiculous because of her antics. “This is what she would wear all the time. Never like, too bright colors but neutral.”
The video gets even sillier as North dances around and completely covers her eyelids with the black shadow from the palette.
“This is literally, the most perfect,” she said. “Not too black. Love it.”
And after applying one of the lipliners and lipsticks, she squeals,
“This is so good! No words! No words.”
Although mom sees North’s playing with makeup as just experimenting and having fun, Kardashian has said that dad is not amused.
“He changed all the rules. I’d let her wear, you know, she has a little red for Christmas, I’d let her wear a red lip, or I’d let her do one pop of something. I’d let her, if she’s wearing a black dress, a black lip. I kind of got in trouble for that, so it’s now no more makeup,” Kardashian told E! News in a 2019 interview.
But North isn’t the only preteen playing with makeup. These days, TikTok is full of videos of 9, 10 and 11 year olds demonstrating full-on skin care and makeup routines.
And there are just as many videos of adults who are fed up with these mini makeup mavens ransacking the displays at their local Sephora. What happened to double dutch and Barbies, ya’ll?
