Angela Patram, 37, and Teranish Billups, 20, both gave birth Feb. 19 at the hospital. Patramโ€™s fifth child, Rayna Simone Patram,ย was born at 6:29 p.m., weighing 6 pounds, 7 ounces. And Billups delivered Jerry Michaud Jr., weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces, via cesarean section 34 minutes later,ย the news release says.

โ€œTheyโ€™re almost twins,โ€ joked Patram, a surgical oncology nurse at Tampa General, said in the statement. She was scheduled to be induced Feb. 19, while her daughter was due to have her first baby March 6. But the night before Patramโ€™s induction, Billups went into labor.ย By Feb. 19, mother and daughter were in neighboring rooms at the hospital.

โ€œIโ€™ve been in this field for 29 years. โ€ฆ Iโ€™ve seen maybe 14,000 deliveries,โ€ Dr. Atef Zakhary, who practices at Tampa General, said in the statement. โ€œIโ€™ve never seen a mom and daughter deliver on the same day. And this is as close as you could get.โ€

Billups is a biology major at Florida A&M University and plans to transfer schools to enroll in a physician assistant program. She and the babyโ€™s father, Jerry Michaud, Sr., plan to move to be near her family.ย โ€œI guess we have special babies,โ€ Billups said. โ€œWeโ€™ll be celebrating birthdays together for the rest of their lives. Theyโ€™ll be very close.โ€
