Members of the Million Hoodies Movement for Justice released an Inauguration Day video statement Friday to “send a message about what’s at stake for the next four years with an administration that has promised to harm our communities.”

“It is incumbent that young people find ways to get politically activated and involved to protect the security of so many people,” the group said in an announcement on its Facebook page.
Million Hoodies Movement for Justice is a membership-based human rights organization that builds next-generation human rights leaders who work to end anti-black racism and systemic violence. They compiled reactions from members across the country about the vision and direction of the country under the incoming administration.
“There is a deep and undeniable need to fight on behalf of those that have existed on the margins of society in America for far too long,” Pete Haviland-Eduah, national policy chair and D.C.-chapter co-chair, said. “The incoming administration has used fear tactics and threats to so many that have been disenfranchised by the political process for their own personal monetary and power benefit. We at Million Hoodies refuse to normalize this type of behavior and discrimination and look forward to working with those willing to take a stand with us to fight for the future we all deserve.”
