It's not news that fast food can lead to obesity-related health issues. It is shocking whenever we learn what is actually contained in some fast food products. McDonald's chicken nuggets, which are quite popular with kids, are made with the chemical preservative TBHQ (tertiary butylhydroquinone), a petroleum-based product. McNuggets also contain dimethylpolysiloxane, "an anti-foaming agent" also used in Silly Putty. Get this: McDonald's doesn't put these chemicals in its McNuggets overseas, and they're less fattening. What is it about America that makes it OK to pump our kids with chemicals? Perhaps it's because we'll eat anything? Maybe it's because the fast food industry doesn't care about our health?
