The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) is admonishing the House Ethics Committee for "lacking decency." The storied congresswoman says that the committee denied her "due process" and had a case so weak that they had to postpone it indefinitely. The Ethics Committee stated that it was postponing the case in light of new evidence brought to its attention about Waters' case. It believed the evidence warranted "further investigation." Waters is accused of intervening improperly on behalf of OneUnited bank, on whose board her husband served and in which he owned stock. Waters, 72, has defended her actions, saying they were in keeping with her work to aid minority-owned businesses. She repeated on Monday that she had not received any financial benefit.
