Mariah Carey has some thoughts about her run with the Grammys. Despite a record-breaking and critically acclaimed career spanning four decades, the โShake it Offโ singer only has a handful of Grammy awards. While appearing on โLas Culturistas,โ the podcast hosted by โSaturday Night Liveโ player Bowen Yang and comedian Matt Rogers, she didnโt hesitate to speak her mind about it.

In the interview, Rogers brought up the Grammy Awards, telling Carey that she doesnโt โhave enough of those, by the way.โ In classic shady Mariah fashion, she had a perfect response to Rogersโ comment. She replied, โThey scammed me. They toy with me.โ
Despite 34 nominations, Carey has only secured five Grammys wins. She won two Grammys for her debut single โVision of Loveโ in 1991, and three more Grammys during her โEmancipation of Mimiโ comeback era in 2006 โ two for the single โWe Belong Togetherโ and one for the album itself.
Carey also revealed what she considers to be her โbestโ album: her sixth studio LP, โButterfly.โ
โIt definitely has very special significance to me,โ she shared. โ...I think itโs probably my best album.โ Agreeing with Carey, Rogers added, โI donโt know how it doesnโt have all of the accolades,โ to which the โHoneyโ singer replied, โIt has zero accolades!โ
While โButterflyโ received some Grammy nominations, it took home none โ a shocking fact considering the impact it had on Careyโs career and her fans, as well as the critical reevaluation of the album in later years. Some outlets have credited it for โchanging the face of pop music.โ
โI love that album,โ she continued. โIt has a certain feeling when you listen to it. Itโs just got a lot of diversity, like you go from โBreakdown,โ to โButterflyโ to โMy All.โโ
