A Georgia jury has found the man who fatally wounded pop singer Usher's 11-year-old stepson in a 2012 Jet Ski collision guilty and sentenced him to four years in prison, Rolling Stone reports.

Jeffrey Simon Hubbard, 40, was found guilty of homicide by vessel as a result of the 2012 water incident that took the life of Kile Glover and injured a 15-year-old girl. Hubbard was also found guilty of serious injury by vessel, unlawful operation of a personal watercraft and boat traffic violation, Rolling Stone reports.
The tragedy occurred on Lake Lanier, just north of Atlanta, where Kile and the girl were in an inner tube. Hubbard ran over them with a Jet Ski and Glover died two weeks after the crash.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hubbard, who was a family friend of Glover's, will spend 15 years on probation after serving his prison term, for operating the Jet Ski in what the judge described as a "foolish" way.
"I'm disappointed that you have not accepted more responsibility for what occurred," Hall County Superior Court Judge Bonnie Oliver told Hubbard.
Hubbard's father, Simon, told reporters that his son had been legally advised not to express an apology earlier.
"He's been remorseful since day one," he said, Rolling Stone reports.
"It's been a nightmare for him for the past two years, and it's probably going to be indelibly etched in his mind for the rest of his life."
Although the collision occurred in July 2012, Hubbard was not arrested until March 2013 after a grand jury indicted him. Hubbard's attorneys argued that the tragedy was an accident and that Hubbard tried to avoid the children, Rolling Stone reports.
