It’s hard to believe that this is even happening. But nearly 27 years after 2Pac was fatally shot, someone is finally going to trial for his murder.

After two previous delays, Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the man arrested and charged with Pac’s murder, is finally getting his day in court. But he won’t be having the defense attorney he thought he would. Here’s why.
On Oct. 19 during a court hearing, Attorney Ross Goodman defended Keefe D, saying that police and prosecutors had no evidence to prove that Davis was involved in the 1996 shooting. According to the Associated Press, he said, “There’s no gun, there’s no car and there’s no witnesses from 27 years ago.”
As a result, a Las Vegas judge gave Goodman and Davis two weeks to reach an agreement so Goodman could officially represent Keefe D during his arraignment hearing on Nov 2.
But on Wednesday, Goodman told the AP that he could not reach an agreement with Keefe D and as a result, the sole man charged with the murder of 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur was given a public defender.
On Thursday during his arraignment, Keefe D stood before a Las Vegas judge and pleaded not guilty to the murder of the All Eyez On Me rapper.

If you’re wondering, why is Keefe D the only man who’s being charged with murder if other people were involved in the shooting? The thing is, Duane Davis is the only person still alive who was allegedly in the car where shots were fired.
All the other suspects have since died.
The prosecution suspects that the shooting was planned because Davis’ nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, and Pac were involved in a brawl at a casino hours earlier, according to the AP.
