During a recent episode on “The Joe Budden Podcast,” co-host Ice asked the New Jersey MC, “Who has the greatest mixtape discography?” Budden’s response was swift. “Oh, that’s easy,” he stated. “Me.”
While others on the show said legendary names like Lil Wayne and 50 Cent, Budden continued to cite himself.
To wrap up the convo, Budden came up with six MCs, “Yeah, I’m stopping it there: Jeezy, Wayne, 50, me, Fab and Kiss [Jadakiss].”

Naturally, this led to a lot of pushback on social media, with people quickly dismissing his “Mood Muzik” mixtape series that has previously earned praise for its vulnerability and its lyricism.
One person commented on X, “Joe budden doesn’t have a better mixtape discography than Nick Cannon.”
Others were even more harsh, questioning the people Budden has as co-hosts on the show. Another user wrote, “Joe need n****s in the room with him, that dont need him.. so n****s can be honest. Cause this nigga is nowhere near top ten mixtape catalogs. What are we talkin about? They shouldve all laughed.”
Weezy has dropped more than two dozen mixtapes in his career, with many of his most beloved ones coming during the mid to late 2000s. His “Dedication” mixtape series is beloved among rap fans everywhere and it showcased his uncanny ability to take beats from popular songs and make them his own.
50 Cent’s mixtape run is just as legendary, as he and G-Unit dropped four mixtapes in six months. This run of music allowed the Queens MC to gain momentum leading up to his massively successful major label debut, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.
Budden giving GOAT status to his “Mood Muzik” mixtape series is a bold take, but it stands in line with who he was as an MC. Despite not having the mainstream success as others, he always felt that bar for bar, he was one of the best to do it.
