Just weeks after Jay-Z was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in a lawsuit filed against him and Sean “Diddy” Combs, his request to file a motion to dismiss the case has been granted by a judge.

As reported by E! Online, Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) can officially file his motion to dismiss the lawsuit on Feb. 6. The plaintiff, who only goes by the moniker “Jane Doe” and is being represented by Tony Buzbee, may then file an opposition against the motion by Feb. 28.
If Jay-Z has a response, he may issue it by March 14.
The star has denied all of the allegations against him in the lawsuit and just last month, he filed a motion to reveal the name of the plaintiff. Alex Spiro, Jay-Z’s lawyer, stated in the motion that his client “is respectfully seeking either dismissal of the allegations or disclosure of the Plaintiff’s identity.”
In the documents, Spiro also wrote that it was not “consistent with justice, fairness or the rules governing federal proceedings” for the plaintiff and her representation to “smear” Jay-Z’s “good name.”
Last month, a New York federal judge ruled that the plaintiff — who is from Alabama — may continue to remain anonymous during the beginning stages of the litigation.
However, according to CBS News, she may be required to reveal her identity later on if the case continues.
Shortly after Jay-Z was accused of sexual assault, he immediately issued a statement denying the allegations.
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!” Jay-Z said.
“Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
The lawsuit against Jay-Z is just one example of the numerous cases that Combs is facing. Combs is currently in custody as he awaits a trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges.
