Itโ€™s no secret that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smithโ€™s son has been in the headlines over the years about everything from his eclectic fashion sense to his own music. Seemingly every member of the Smith family has had their moment(s) of scrutiny at one time or another. And while the 26-year-old very rarely takes the time out to address the chatter, it appears he had a change of heart over the weekend.

In addition to dropping a new music video for his song โ€œThe Coolest Part 2" on X/Twitter, Jaden followed up with a small anecdote in an attempt to explain his personal quirks over the years.

โ€œAll The Weird Shit Youโ€™ve Ever Seen Me Do Was Me Thinking I Was Totally Normal, So Now Sometimes I Try To Act Weird On Purpose So Yall Think Itโ€™s On Purpose,โ€ he wrote. โ€œBut At The End Of The Day Iโ€™ve Been Trying To Fit In This Whole Time And I Guess Itโ€™s Not Exactly Going To Plan.โ€

Jadenโ€™s sentiments echo the ones he made previously in an interview withย Complex from last week, in which he dives deeper intoย his โ€œweirdโ€ behavior:

I went through a lot of my life trying to be normal. It was a really big deal for me for a long time that people thought that I was normal. And that bothered me after a while. I started to feel like people didnโ€™t really understand me or see me, and I wasnโ€™t really trying to show anybody that.

โ€œI think itโ€™s just about trying to bring in a different perspective to the world so people have a bunch of different perspectives to look at,โ€ he said.
