A newly discovered horsefly in Australia with a golden-haired behind has been named after Beyoncé. The species had been sitting in a fly collection since it was captured in 1981 (the year Beyoncé was born).Bryan Lessard, a researcher at Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, named it Scaptia Beyonceae. Lessard said he named the fly after the singer to reflect the insect's beauty and to draw more attention to the the need for more researchers to catalog and study insects.

Horseflies are "vital pollinators of native plants, not just in Australia but all over the world," Lessard told the Huffington Post. "It's extremely important to name all the undescribed species so we can measure our human impact on the environment and hopefully protect it for future generations to enjoy."
