Lil Kim may not be in the news often but all that changed earlier this week she put out a statement to those affected by the ongoing devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. But it’s what asked for in the message that has folks somewhat coming for the “Get Money” rapper in a hilarious way.

On Tuesday, Lil Kim posted a tweet on X/Twitter expressing her condolences and saying that she’d been praying for those going through this tough situation. As previously reported by The Root, the multiple fires have burned thousands of acres of land and property and left countless people displaced.
“Been sending strong prayers up for LA and everyone affected by the fires. This is heartbreaking. I pray to Jesus that God make it monsoon in LA,” she wrote.
However, despite her well-meaning words, the ask for a “monsoon” didn’t exactly land for some people as the torrential rain is considered a natural disaster—much like the fires. As a result, users on social media resorted to cracking jokes about her post all while giving her the benefit of the doubt.
“Lil Kim meant well, but I don’t think a monsoon would help at all. Her heart was in the right place,” said one use on X/Twitter.
“Kim, my sweet baby, we ain’t got the infrastructure to deal w/monsoons. A light drizzle over a few days will suffice. Thank you for your prayers though, mommas,” said another user.
“What makes Lil Kim praying for a monsoon even funnier is that I just know that wasn’t her first choice of natural disaster. Probably typed “flood” and was like “nah that’s too much,” another user wrote.
“When LA gets the monsoon lil kim gone pray for a heat wave to evaporate all the water,” another user joked.
However, after the “Crush On You” singer got wind of all the talk, she got back on social media on Thursday to defend her words.
“What’s happening is devastating and what LA really needs right now is rain—so what’s the issue? Doesn’t everyone understand that a monsoon is heavy rain? I’m so happy to see that everyone is staying so positive during such a tragic situation. Let’s keep praying and supporting everyone that has been affected by this,” she wrote in a tweet.
In a followup post, she posted a screenshot of the definition of a monsoon with the curt caption: “For anyone that’s confused. Any questions?”
Much like what has already been expressed here, Lil Kim, we definitely appreciate and understand where you were coming from. But a a couple days of moderate rain would do just fine.
