The Black community just let out a collective sigh after learning this weekend that there may never be another Obama in the White House again. The news was confirmed by former President Barack Obama at a star-studded June 15 fundraising event for the Biden campaign in Los Angeles.

Former First Lady Michelle Obamaโs office confirmed earlier this year that she had no intention of throwing her hat into the ring in the 2024 Presidential election.
โAs former First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed several times over the years, she will not be running for president,โ said Director of Communications, Crystal Carson. โMrs. Obama supports President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harrisโ re-election campaign.โ
And now we know her daughters wonโt be getting into the game either.
When asked by fundraiser host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel which of his daughters, Malia, 25, or Sasha, 22, might be better suited as leader of the free world someday, Obama quickly shut down the idea. He said the girlsโ mother did her best to discourage her girls from pursuing a life in politics.
โThat is a question I do not need to answer because Michelle drilled into them so early that you would be crazy to go into politics,โ the former president told Kimmel. โItโll never happen.โ
The Obama daughters are taking their motherโs advice to heart. Oldest daughter Malia is already making a name for herself in the film industry, debuting her film, โThe Heart,โ which she wrote and directed at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
And speaking of names, sheโs doing everything she can to carve her own lane, ditching her famous last name and referring to herself as โMalia Annโ in the credits. Sheโs also worked with Donald Glover as a writer on his Amazon Prime Video series โSwarm.โ
Their youngest daughter Sasha completed her undergraduate degree in sociology at the University of Southern California in May 2023. According to the former First Lady, the sisters share an apartment in Los Angeles.
We may never be able to celebrate another Obama political win, but at least weโll always have 2008 to 2016.
