The prescription drug Avandia, which is used to treat diabetes, is under fire because of its potential risk for causing heart attacks. An FDA panel voted today to strictly control the distribution of the drug. The 33-member advisory board was sharply divided. Twelve voted to remove the drug from shelves completely, 10 for continued sale but with new label revisions and possible restrictions, seven to add more warnings and three for no change at all. We vote to call your doctor and tread lightly with Avandia.
