A Baltimore television station is reporting that the 18-year-old female charged in the brutal beating of a transgender woman at a McDonald's has pleaded guilty in the attack, a video of which went viral.

The woman, Teonna Brown, pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of first-degree assault and one count of a hate crime in the attack of 22-year-old Chrissy Polis, according to Baltimore's WBAL-TV. The county state's attorney said the guilty plea brought "complete closure" to the case.
The case was brought to light after a McDonald's employee posted a video online of the beating, which occurred in April and garnered nationwide attention. The employee was fired after reportedly doing nothing to stop the brutal attack.
Polis told reporters on Thursday that she was apprehensive about her courtroom appearance. "I was kind of nervous being here today," she said, according to the story. "I really did not want to come. I still have no comment. I'm just going to lay low and keep my life as normal as possible."
This is a hard way for Brown to learn to respectfully disagree with someone's choice. Perhaps it will send a broad message to others.
