(The Root) — This Friday, Sept. 21, join a group of prominent educators during this year's Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference as they discuss effective solutions for improving and sustaining black male achievement in American schools.

The Journal of Negro Education's Dr. Ivory A. Toldson, who has also partnered with The Root to offer important and critical content on black education, will be joined by Shawn Dove of the Open Society Foundations, Columbia University's Marc Lamont Hill, Tim King of Urban Prep Academies, Morehouse College's Bryant T. Banks, filmmaker Janks Morton and Boyce Watkins from Syracuse University.
In addition to the panel discussion, the event will include a premiere of Morton's Hoodwinked, a film that examines the institutional forces that shape perceptions of black males and affect how they regard themselves.
