The highly-anticipated project hasnโt been taking off the table, according to Summerโs daughter Brooklyn Sudano. But whatโs been unclear until now is whether or not they agree with fans whoโve been calling for the Destinyโs Child singer to take on the role for the last few years.
Speaking to People earlier this week, Sudano revealed that sheโs close with Rowland and has discussed the option but insists that a project of that magnitudeโand the subsequent decisions that would come with itโtakes time.
โKelly and I are friends, so of course we have [spoken about it],โ Brooklyn said. โI love Kelly. She is the best. So talented, so beautiful. We hear you.โ
She later added: โThese things take such a long time, and so it was really important to me and my family to get the doc out there, which we did. So thereโs lots of conversations and weโll see what the future holds. I canโt say too much now.โ
Love to Love You, Donna Summer, co-directed by Sudano released in Feb. 2023.
As far as Sudanoโs dad Bruce goes, he expressed his admiration of Kelly but leaned more towards a limited series as opposed to a biopic film.
โYes, weโre interested but our inclination is to do a limited series,โ he told xoNecole. โBecause there is so much nuance and different phases of Donnaโs life and career that would give us a little more latitude in telling her story. And connecting with people on a different levelโnot only on the music level but on the human level. Thatโs the road that weโre exploring now. As far as Kelly, we love Kelly. Weโll see!โ
