If, during one of the three times you caught Black Panther this weekend, you stayed through the end of the credits, you may have noticed a special shoutout to Donald Glover and his brother Stephen in the โSpecial Thanksโ section.

The Glovers earned the acknowledgment by providing director Ryan Coogler with script notes on the blockbuster film, which shattered records its opening weekend. Coogler revealed in an interview with Collider that the Glover brothers had helped out with the script, noting that the pair focused on exchanges between Wakandan STEM genius (and audience fave) Shuri and her older brother TโChalla.
โDonaldโs one of the funniest people that I know,โ Coogler said, โso he had some interesting ideas, and Stephenโs crazy talented as well.โ
Now the 34-year-old Glover has shared his experience of working on the groundbreaking movie. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, Glover detailed some of his involvement:
โ[Director] Ryan [Coogler] was gracious enough to be like, โWill you take a look at this script?โโ Glover, 34, said. โWhich was really cool. Marvel locks things down, so we had not as much time as I wouldโve wanted. We had a couple of hours to punch up some jokes and stuff like that. It was already there anyway. They had already done a great job, so it was really cool to just get our fingerprints on there a bit.โ
There you have it. Those scenes where Shuri delivers those delicious one-liners to TโChalla (aka โWhat are thooooooseโ)? The Glovers likely had a hand in creating themโand only needed a few hours. Iโm also willing to bet they punched up some of MโBakuโs lines, too, but thatโs just my own pet theory.
Glover also talked a little bit about his role as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story.
โAll the Star Wars are fun, but [with] this movie, we know whatโs gonna happen โฆ we know theyโre not gonna die,โ Glover said. โWeโre allowed to have a lot more fun than in the other movies, where you have to deal with a lot of lineage and whatโs going to happen. I think this movieโs just a fun, summer film. Iโm really excited about it.โ
I mean, itโd be a touch more exciting if the film were called, I donโt know, Lando: A Thirst Trap Tale, but again, maybe thatโs just me. Either way, between his Grammy wins, Star Wars, his contributions to Black Panther and the upcoming premiere of season 2 of Atlanta, Glover is looking all types of golden.
