In a year that saw the initiation of messy divorces and surprising breakups, it looks like Judge Greg Mathis is making sure his happy home stays in place.

As we told you a month ago, Mathis’ wife Linda Reese filed for divorce from the popular TV personality back in August, citing their separation date back in late July and irreconcilable differences as the reason for their dissolution. (The internet had other theories, but we digress.)
Shortly after, Mathis said that he was dedicated to “trying to get his wife back” though things were quiet as far as Linda was concerned, and he didn’t sound too confident at the time.
Now, in a new interview with TMZ on Thursday, the Mathis patriarch gave a surprisingly positive update as it relates to his marriage explaining that the two of them have been spending more time together at home and that things will all be worked out sooner rather than later.
“We’re doing well, we’ll be reconciled shortly,” he said before later adding: “It’s more than a chance [they’ll reconcile]. It’ll take a few more months for me to stay home. I haven’t left home since the time I got in trouble with her in terms of not being home. I haven’t left home, I put off all my speaking engagements around the country. So, I’m home with my wife and we’re doing fine. And I’m enjoying it—and she is, too!”
Later, Mathis gave a word of advice to any men who were seeking to get their woman back, explaining that in order to be successful they have to put them first and tend to their wife’s needs. He added that men also shouldn’t be arrogant, but intentional about continuing to court their spouse well after they say “I do.”
This sign of hope is a welcomed change of pace given the myriad of breakups we’ve all been privy too lately (looking at you Halle Bailey and DDG, Cardi B. and Offset, and Jeezy and Jeanie Mai, specifically.) Here’s hoping that this couple keeps the goodness going for as long as possible.
