Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis had the most intimate parts of her relationship with ex-special prosecutor Nathan Wade aired out in a court room for the world to see. But, in a recent interview the Georgia prosecutor said she’s “not embarrassed” and she’s not backing down.

Earlier this month, Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ruled that Willis could remain on the Georgia election interference case with one small catch. Judge McAfee ruled that either Wade or Willis had to leave the case, resulting in Wade’s departure. The ruling came after defendants in the case, including former President Donald Trump — argued that Willis’ relationship with Wade tainted the case and that she’d profited from hiring someone she was in a romantic relationship with. However, both Willis and Wade testified that the relationship began after he was hired.
In his ruling Judge McAfee chastised Willis for what he said was a “tremendous lapse in judgement.” However, Willis says she isn’t “embarrassed” and doesn’t need to rehabilitate her image with Fulton County residents.
“I’m not embarrassed by anything I’ve done,” she said, in an interview with CNN. “I guess my greatest crime is that I had a relationship with a man, but that’s not something I find embarrassing in any way.
Willis also made it clear in the interview with CNN that she intends to push forward full-steam ahead. “I don’t feel like we have been slowed down at all,” she said. “I think there are efforts to slow down the train, but the train is coming.”
The fate of the case and her role in it is still not solidified. A judge allowed an appeal to move forward from Trump and his c0-defendants attempting to overturn the decision to keep Willis on the case. Theoretically, this could mean months of uncertainty in this case as Willis and the rest of the nation waits for a ruling about her fate.
