D.L. Hughley, known for a career of sharing divisive stances, is at it once again with a sharp tone regarding a high-stakes issue: folks who are adamant about President Joe Biden dropping out of the upcoming presidential race.

Hughley went on “TMZ Live” Wednesday to call out Democrats for not thinking strategically. He addressed actor George Clooney specifically and stated that Clooney’s New York Times op-ed (“I Love Joe Biden, But We Need A New Nominee”) requesting Biden leave the race is “insulting.” Hughley also says that the fact the actor omits Project 2025 from his article is extremely concerning, as the series of conservative proposals will harm people of color disproportionately.
In the essay, Clooney wrote:
“This is about age. Nothing more. But also nothing that can be reversed. We are not going to win in November with [Biden as] president. On top of that, we won’t win the House, and we’re going to lose the Senate. This isn’t only my opinion; this is the opinion of every senator and Congress member and governor who I’ve spoken with in private. Every single one, irrespective of what he or she is saying publicly.”
Hughley said that it was unbelievable that people are hyper-focused on Biden’s qualifications when a Trump presidency would ruin the country. Clooney’s vantage point is that of a straight white male and his perspective is privileged, the comedian pointed out.
Hughley also noted that Biden’s path to victory as an incumbent would be easier than a new Democratic presidential nominee and that calls for him to step down by other Democrats are full of “cowardice” and “hand-wringing.” He also said that if folks are overlooking Trump’s criminal record, Democrats can vote for a “cadaver” or a “crypt keeper.”
