Snoop Dogg has probably heard it all from the Black community after heโ along with Nelly and Soulja Boyโ performed at this yearโs Crypto Ball, an event celebrating President Donald Trumpโs inauguration. But now, Snoop is catching it from comedian D.L. Hughley who says the rapper made the wrong move.

The Root previously reported on Snoop Doggโ real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.โ responding to critics following his choice to perform at the Trump event. Snoop claimed on Instagram, โBlack people are great at tearing each other down,โ but Hughley doesnโt think the issue is within the community.
โIt isnโt anger or hate. It is honestly people being disappointed,โ Hughley said during the Jan. 28 episode of โThe D.L. Hughley Showโ podcast. โBut why is the most common refrain whenever somebody gets in a situation like that, you tell us we canโt stick together?โ
The real issue, according to Hughley, is Snoopโs battle with himself. โIt isnโt us that you have a problem with, it is you,โ Hughley continued. โThe 2025 version of you is at odds with the 2017 version of you. So it ainโt the us that gotta get it together, itโs the you. You need to have a conversation with the man in the mirror.โ
Hughleyโs brutal honesty comes after fans pointed out Snoopโs stark difference of opinions in 2025 compared to when Trump was elected... the first time. โSo ainโt no one gonna perform for Donald Trump huh? Which one of you jigaboo a** n****s gone be the first one to do it. Iโm waitingโฆ Iโm gonna roast the fuck out of one of you uncle tom a** n****s for doing it,โ Snoop said in full critque of Trump supporters back in 2017.
So what changed with the โGin and Juiceโ rapper? Well, everyone is still trying to figure that out, but Hughley said one thing that remained the same is the Black communityโs decision not to support the 45th or the 47th president.
โWe decided that this was a man who was bad for our community, we stuck together,โ Hughley said of Trump. Not only that, but Hughley also pointed out controversial efforts made by the Trump Administration to ban DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), target immigrants, and attack fundamental policies for Black people.
โThe very person who you perform for is doing just that: tearing this country apart, families apart. Heโs dismantling DEI and affirmative action and long-set precedents,โ the comedian continued. โAnd every time somebody gets into a situation of their own doing, it is always โa communal attackโ or โa communityโs attack.โโ
Sometimes you have to admit when you mess up, and Hughley just wants Snoop to take some accountability. โPeople love you, but they dislike what you did,โ he continued. โAnd thereโs nothing more loving than that.โ
Snoop has yet to respond to Hughleyโs comments.
