Lysa Terkeurst is a mother of three girls, but she made a decision that changed her life, her family and her community outside of Charlotte, N.C., the Huffington Post reports.

Ten years ago, as she told the Today show, she went to see a choir made up of young boys from a Liberian orphanage. The concert moved her to adopt two of them. Her actions inspired other families in her community to adopt boys from the orphanage. Since Terkeurst went through the adoption process, the community has adopted 45 children.
"These 12 beautiful boys from the other side of the world got up and started to sing from the depth of their soul, just the most beautiful music," Terkeurst who lives near Charlotte, North Carolina, told TODAY's Jenna Bush Hager. "I was very challenged by the reality that these boys who had been singing and smiling and just had such joy in their life, that they had nothing."
